Valentine's Day and Baby Shower

I realized that I didn't write about me and Mike's celebrations for our anniversary and for Valentine's Day. For our anniversary dinner, we went to the restaurant at Inn on the Creek in Midway, which is where we had our first dinner as a married couple. We reminisced on the way up about our wedding day and how wonderful it was. Our romantic anniversary dinner was on Valentine's Day (because the 15th was a Sunday), so I suppose it was our Valentine's celebration, as well. I don't know. It doesn't matter, because it was pretty much just a weekend of love. On Monday (President's Day) we had a homemade romantic dinner- filet mignon, broiled asparagus, and mashed potatoes. And crème brulée for dessert. It was delicious. Mike also got me a very awesome valentine/anniversary gift- Flight of the Conchords' first season on DVD, as well as their soundtrack. It 's so great. I'm a little bit proud of what I got him, too- a bb gun. It's come in handy so far- he uses it to scare cats off our property (not kill them).
So that all was two weeks ago. Last weekend was the baby shower that my in-laws threw for me. It was lovely. I wish I had pictures of it, but I also wish I had pictures of anything, and it's no one's fault but my own. I'm going to go take a picture right now of all the stuff I got there, because it's all so adorable and cute and soft. Oh boy, do I ever love soft baby things. Also, I would definitely recommend the sugar cookies from Smart Cookie- they use cream cheese frosting and are fantastic (thanks, Kati!). Mom J and I had also gone fabric shopping the week before to pick out stuff for a baby quilt, which we tied at the shower and which I love. I've always loved fabric stores, since I was little and would go with my mom, and picking out fabric for this project was so so fun. I can't wait until the day I learn to quilt (perhaps as soon as this fall!). Anyway, thanks to everyone for making it such a lovely evening- it was wonderful seeing you all (especially Kerry and Becca- they were both in town for Ann's birthday). Anyway, hooray for babies and showers and another one this weekend!

Uhg, I can't find the camera-to-computer cord. Next time, pictures.

Two years? Really?

Me and Mike's 2 year anniversary was this last Sunday, on the 15th. I can't believe it's been two years; it doesn't feel like it's been that long at all. I suppose Mike is just an easy guy to be married to. He is also exceptionally handsome.
When I really think about it, I guess I can be convinced that it's been that long. We got married the last semester of my undergrad years, and when I think how long ago those classes seem, then it almost feels like we've been married for 10 years. But that's just because I can't believe I ever took an early english literature class- I swear I've only learned about geology since high school. I remember living in Alpine, in Kati and Jon's basement. Man, Alpine is so far away from everything. Then we lived in the Ivie's apartment, but I can't believe we were there for almost a whole year. And now we've lived in Lehi for over 6 months. Whoa. I feel like we've accomplished a lot in these last two years. When I say that, I mostly mean this baby that's on the way, but there are other things too, I'm sure.
What I wanted to say with this post, really, is that I'm so very glad I'm married to Mike. He has been a wonderful friend/companion/husband/partner/buddy/provider/confidant/lifter of heavy things and opener of stuck jars for these past two years, and I'm sure things will just keep getting better.
